Lotfi is a line of textiles and women’s clothing designed by Sharareh Lotfi in San Francisco. Shara designs each textile print and collection from her home studio, which she shares with her husband, artist Chris Koehler.
Shara was born and raised in Venezuela. She attended Reed College, where she graduated with a B.A. in English Literature in 2005. Her love of illustrations, watercolor drawings, and visual story telling led her to explore the possibility of creating her own fabrics. In 2011, after studying pattern making, fitting techniques, and apparel construction, she launched her first small collection; the textile prints were based upon a series of oil paintings created by her husband.
Lotfi textiles are digitally printed in the United States using chemical-free dyes and pigments, and each garment is constructed in San Francisco. Each collection prioritizes the use of organic fabrics and natural, breathable materials which are both comfortable to wear and environmentally friendly.
